June 26th 1833 St. Mary Bishop Hill Junior, York— From Janet Brock’s research
Harriet Penrose was the second wife of Frederick William Verity — and the mother of the line that runs on. Two daughters were born to the couple before they married at Holy Trinity, Stalybridge, in 1859: Elizabeth Penrose Verity in 1854 and Clara Penrose Verity in 1856, each given their mother's maiden name. Harriet was a gamekeeper's daughter — her father, Henry Penrose, is entered “Game Keeper” on the marriage register — and she made her mark where Frederick signed his name.
Behind her stands a family Mum had already traced back several generations: the Penroses, whose name her daughters carried for a mother who could not write it herself. That is a line of its own, for a later pass. Here Harriet is the join — bringing the Penroses into the Veritys and, through Clara, on into the Wilsons.

Research · a wife-line for a later pass
Harriet's marriage to Frederick Verity is read at the image this pass (Stalybridge, 1859), naming her father Henry Penrose, a gamekeeper. Behind him Mum traced the Penroses back several generations — a line of its own, to be validated and written up on a later pass, alongside the other married-in families of this branch. Its wall, and its evidence, wait there.
