Baptised
about 1600
Robert Barber was baptised about 1600, a son of William Barber and Mary of Witcham, and a grandson of the John Barber who stands at the head of the family. In 1627 he married Winifred Gunton at St Peter's, Wentworth — one of the earliest of the family's marriages the parish registers preserve. He was buried at Witcham in 1638, still only about thirty-eight, leaving young children behind him — among them Thomas, the carpenter who would carry the line on and set down its land in writing.

Research · Witcham & Wentworth
Robert sits at the join between the earliest registers and the will-evidenced generations above him. To do: read the 1627 Wentworth marriage and the Witcham burial at the image; trace Winifred Gunton, whose name descends to a granddaughter.
