Frances Addison

1751 – ?
✓ Validated against records · 2026-07-08

Frances Addison was baptised at St Peter's, Saltfleetby, on 3 February 1751 — a parish of the northern Marsh, out toward the coast. In April 1782 she married William Stubbs, the carpenter of Alvingham, after banns; she signed her own name, and a Matthew Addison, apparently of her family, stood witness.

Her son Christopher, born in 1786, would become a farmer of 200 acres, and through his daughter Eliza her line runs on into the Brocks of Hull. Of the Addisons of Saltfleetby little more is yet gathered; her own parents wait on a round-two read.

The Addisons of Saltfleetby

Research · Saltfleetby, Lincolnshire

Frances's Saltfleetby baptism (1751) comes from Janet Brock's research; her marriage is confirmed in the index and read at the register by Janet, where a Matthew Addison stood witness — very likely her father or brother. Round two: read the Saltfleetby St Peter register for her baptism and parents, and place Matthew Addison; trace the Addisons of Saltfleetby.
